Clive Lewis For Norwich South
The awful, gut-wrenching, human cost of perpetually failing local mental health services is shown through Theo’s tragic death.
“…things needed to improve urgently. They couldn’t have got any worse for Theo. He died horrifically, alone, with nobody”.
Theo lived in my constituency.
Theo’s mum was amongst the bereaved relatives who came to share their stories with me and other MPs in parliament. At the beginning of the meeting, Theo’s mum put a picture of her son on the table.
“He died horrifically, alone, with nobody”. Theo, “died horrifically, alone, with nobody”.
Just imagine that happening to someone you care about. And the justifiable uproar if loved ones were saying this about physical and not mental health care.
I’m backing the mental health campaigners’ call today for the police to investigate “where the same mistakes have been repeated time and time again.” And countless other sons, daughters, partners and friends are at risk of dying “horrifically, alone”, unless we get the statutory inquiry I and so many others have been calling for.
