A short while ago I crossed a finish line that wasn't connected to political ambition.
Along with around 70 other fund-raisers I completed a gruelling 47 mile hike along the North Norfolk coast.
But this was no mere meandering bimble in the countryside, taking in the beautiful views. Instead it was a fast paced, relentless race against time that saw us complete the challenge in under 24 hours.
Ultimately the blisters and back-ache were for a good cause - raising money for the Norwich Community Sporting Foundation - a city charity that works with local disadvantaged and disabled children.
I'll be the first to admit that when I signed up, I under estimated just how difficult it would be. It's not just the distance but the lack of sleep, compounded with the terrain.
Sometimes it was sand, other times thick mud or worst of all mile after mile of shingle. Seeing that stretch out ahead of you made you want to sob.
Either way I'm just glad I managed to make it.
At present I'm just under a £100 short of my £500 target so if anyone would like to sponsor me, please feel free to do so on:
